Pine Barrens Paddle

Kayak or canoe on Oswego River River from Oswego Lake to Beaver Branch. Boat rentals and pick-up/drop-off with Mick's Canoe Rental in Chatsworth. Registration is limited to 16 people. If you have not paddled a kayak, this is not the trip to try it for the first time. Inversand Glauconite Sand Pit Tour

A popular trip for paleontologists led by staff from the New Jersey State Museum.  Collecting prehistoric sea life, including fossils of oysters, clams, snails, shark teeth and marine reptiles. The mining operation is the last example of a once thriving New Jersey industry, the digging of green marl. The old pits produced many specimens of vertebrate fossils first described by nineteenth century paleontologists, and provided the stage for opening acts of the famous Cope-Marsh “bone wars”.

Today, modern scientific studies of this important site focus on the record of the great mass extinction event that ended the age of dinosaurs, preserved in the glauconite sands and clays of the Inversand Pit....Details

At Wheaton Village we will tour the impressive Museum of American Glass with its notable collection and watch world-class art created in the Glass Studio. After lunch, there will be time to walk through the studios to see skilled artisans at work throughout the day and to purchase one-of-a-kind handcrafted pieces...Details

Princeton Area

Tours of Grounds for Sculpture in Hamilton, NJ. This 32-acre sculpture park and museum was established in 1992 to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of contemporary sculpture. Lunch at the outdoor cafe.
Morven Visit Morven Museum and Garden, Princeton.The museum occupies the house called Morven, the former New Jersey Governor’s Mansion and 18th century home of Richard Stockton, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Morven’s historic garden includes a formal, grand lawn dotted with majestic trees, beds of heirloom annuals from the 18th and 19th centuries, and a re-creation of the Colonial Revival style garden that was planted at Morven in the early 20th century.

Geology Field Trip

At Sterling Hill Mine and Mineral Museum we will see a spectacular mineral fluorescence display. Dr. Earl Verbeck, renowned mineralogist will provide an extensive tour and presentation. We will see the inner workings of the underground mine as we travel several miles of mine shafts deep inside the earth. Specimens can be collected in the "pit."  Lunch will be provided and there will be time to explore the museum at your own pace.

Delaware.Water Gap National Recreation Area: The Delaware Water Gap is bounded by Mt. Minsi in Pennsylvania and Mt. Tammany in New Jersey. Once touted as a scenic Wonder of the World, it is an impressive site when motoring through on Interstate 80 or viewed from the overlooks along Rt. 611 on the Pennsylvania side.
